Within Knowledge & Learning Excellence, we deliver the right content at the right time via the right channels for our customers to enable error-free operation of our products. We ensure that internal knowledge is curated and spread across all customer areas, and efficiently and properly prepared for our customers.
Within the Language Operations subchapter, we take care of all aspects related to terminology, translation, localization, language models, and source language governance. To do what really matters, we are in close contact with our stakeholders, both internally and externally.
As the Terminology & Language Solutions Expert, you will be part of the Language Operations subchapter. Your main tasks in this role will be:
Creating and maintaining harmonized and consistent terminology in English for the projects/products or product lines in charge and providing terminology to all departments in need of terminology.
Establishing and leading cross-department terminology circles or subject matter expert groups for the projects/products in charge, independently and according to Roche terminology management standards, while respecting quality targets and project schedules.
Supporting the localization of terminology in the languages in charge in close cooperation with the affiliates.
Maintaining and further developing and improving the terminology database and the representation of multilingual knowledge.
Collecting input for terminology updates and producing these updates in close cooperation with the subject matter experts and project teams.
Ensuring that quality targets, timelines, and regulatory requirements are respected.
In collaboration with the User/Customer Experience department and the Content Creator assigned to the project, contributing to the creation of English user interface texts, and reviewing them for translatability, terminological correctness, and adherence to style guidelines.
Additional Tasks:
Assure a smooth terminology exchange with our translation vendors and with the Roche affiliates.
Support translation vendors and Roche affiliates in harmonizing translated terms and maintaining the common terminology database.
Support the automation of processes within the Language Operations subchapter and other KLE sub-chapters.
Support initiatives and projects within the DIA organization and GCS and contribute to knowledge sharing and achieving the \\xe2\\x80\\x9cone Roche\\xe2\\x80\\x9d approach.
Can build and maintain language models for machine translation and text analytics and classification
Can maintain and further train, and test machine translation engines.
Can provide expertise and support for machine translation and other Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions.
Can support development projects in software localization and internationalization topics.
To be successful in this role you bring:
A university degree or certificate from an adequate institute in translation studies, linguistics, computational linguistics, or technical communication (master\\xe2\\x80\\x99s degree preferred)
Fluently in English, one additional \\xe2\\x80\\x9cRoche\\xe2\\x80\\x9d language required and additional languages beneficial.
Good knowledge of taxonomies, and controlled vocabulary
2/3 years of work experience in terminology management and/or in localization and translation, language technology
Strong communication and negotiation skills
