\\nAbout the role

We are seeking an experienced biologist with a strong background in immunology and in vitro assays to join our in-house biology team. The successful candidate will develop in vitro assays to elucidate our target biology and develop biological assay cascades to progress our drug candidates. The position requires a creative and independent scientist to establish in vitro assays using a variety of biochemical and cellular techniques to interrogate the fundamental mechanisms of our drug candidates. This includes exploring the mode of action, potency, efficacy and selectivity of our molecules. The successful candidate will work closely with in-house colleagues in the biology, protein science and computational teams as well as CROs.

What you will do...

• Lead, and provide scientific and technical guidance in the design and performance of diverse cell-based assays and biochemical experiments and biochemical experiments for our pipeline projects.
• Build and extend the scientific rationale for our candidate molecules working on various projects to reliably meet project deadlines
• Build essays and screening cascades to progress our projects to the clinic
• Build translational rational and experimental data package internally and with external partners for our advanced projects
• Actively drive and contribute to multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams and technology projects by working closely with other groups within the R&D team
• Design, execute, analyze and sign off experiments to produce robust and high-quality data
• Ensure efficient and productive workflows within the lab team and in the lab, and improve them where necessary
• Communicate experimental and project progress to the project teams
• Generate scientific content for manuscripts, meetings and conferences
• Support and manage relationships with internal and external partners

What you bring...

• PhD in immunology and cell biology (or equivalent), combined with in-depth experience in large molecule drug discovery in a biotech or pharmaceutical company environment
• Significant experience with handling, manipulation and characterization of human cell types, immune cells (primary and iPSC-derived)
• Knowledge of human immunology/disease biology relevant in inflammatory and immune-oncology indications
• Extensive experience with developing and troubleshooting analytical and functional assays (i.e. flow cytometry/FACS, plate-based assays)
• Strong understanding of pre-clinical drug discovery processes
• Systematic, methodical approach to assay design, implementation and data analysis
• Solid understanding of receptor and/or enzyme pharmacology and working with a broad range of targets
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Good understanding of laboratory HS&E regulations
