Position Overview:
External Engagement and Environment Shaping (ES) are meant to address policy and other identified environmental barriers to allow access to our current and future medicines.
ES work is geared towards creating awareness, shifting attitudes, and affecting change around systemic issues impacting our portfolio. ES campaigns may engage professional organizations and patient advocates, and will target key stakeholders, including select media, policy makers (not specific decision-makers) and expert voices. This role also supports the implementation of the strategic policy agenda. ES entails many responsibilities including delivering environment shaping analysis, strategy development, and tactical implementation of initiatives that aid in successful launches and uptake of our products.
Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Head of Market Access & Corporate Affairs, Switzerland, the Senior Manager External Engagement will be leading the development and implementation of ES initiatives supporting the launch and uptake of our diabetes and immunology portfolio in collaboration with the cross-functional team and in alignment with corporate and brand strategies. Goal is thereby to:
Ensure a coordinated, focused and synergistic ES approach
Create a market environment in which the benefits of our innovative products are recognized and these are made available to affected patients as quickly as possible
Expand the external perception of Lilly\\\'s commitment in the area of indications to various stakeholders in the public, social, medical and political sectors in a targeted manner
Create a resilient network of socially relevant groups
Represent Lilly\\\'s positions effectively and clearly.
The Senior Manager External Engagement will be responsible for engaging in strong long-term relationships with key external partners and represent Lilly in associations and working groups at regional and national level to meet Lilly environment shaping objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the Brand Teams and in partnership with external stakeholders to develop and implement key environment shaping campaigns around key corporate affairs strategic pillars:
Get in front of potential barriers to launch and uptake
Partner externally to advance patient access
Lay the foundation to create a clear and compelling value proposition for our portfolio.
Lead development and execution of an integrated and aligned ES plan for diabetes and immunology that clearly describes roles, responsibilities, and assignment for deliverables.
Build and sustain relationships with key professional groups, including identifying partnership opportunities and advocating through this organizations for programs and policies in support of the Lilly portfolio.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Qualifications:
University degree in Medicine, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, (Health) Economics, Law, Communication or similar
3+ years of environmental shaping, policy, marketing, PRA, communications or other relevant experience is a must
Expertise working in the external environment to advance policy or environment shaping goals
German is mother tongue or equal proficiency and fluent written and spoken French and English are mandatory, additional skills in Italian advantageous.
Skills & Attributes:
Demonstrated success developing and implementing communication and/or environment shaping campaigns
Proven success understanding, interacting with, partnering and influencing decisions of external stakeholders
Experience working with or on behalf of professional, advocacy, government or payer organizations or similar stakeholders
Experience supporting a business unit and supporting crucial communications goals
Ability to understand the business need and use ES levers to drive the business forward
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to lead strategy projects, engage others and translate strategy into implementation tactics and capabilities
Confirmed ability to influence others and lead without authority
Excellent communication and relational skills across functional and geographic boundaries as well as across, up, and down the organizational ladder
Comfort operating within \\xe2\\x80\\x98white-space\\xe2\\x80\\x99 and within a dynamic and shifting landscape
Strong problem-solving and relationship building skills
Ability to prioritize and make good trade-off decisions
Ability to work effectively in a highly regulated and politically sensitive environment.
