At Roche, we thrive to deliver more benefits to our patients as part of our 10-year Pharma vision. An integral part of achieving this vision is to deliver new and innovative data analytics solutions to our scientists across Pharma Technical Operations (PT). To do so, we have formed a new organization called PT Digital and Operational Excellence (PTE) with the aspiration to digitally transform and become a lean organization.
PTE is the organization that catalyzes the global development and execution of PT\\xe2\\x80\\x99s Digital and Operational Excellence strategy to enable PT to realize our performance promises. We build a strong cross-functional and inclusive community, put the power of data into the hands of our people, further develop the Lean and Digital skills across PT, and scale up our Digital and Advanced Analytics solutions, for the benefit of our colleagues and patients.
We aim to activate data citizenship and digital mind, revolutionize our FAIR data ecosystem and systems landscape, re-design excellent processes, and generate transformative insights. We collaborate closely with global functions to deliver impactful value to our patients.
Job Mission
Data Scientists play a key role in transforming vast amounts of structured and unstructured data into insights, building predictive analytics and machine learning (ML) models for complex business problems that enable the organization in data-driven decision-making. You work as an innovator, inventor, investigator, partner, engineer, \\xe2\\x80\\x9cfirefighter\\\'\\\' and, of course, a scientist. You will be planning, executing and delivering advanced analytics-based projects with the majority of the work spent analyzing problems, exploring datasets, and developing and operationalizing statistical and machine-learning models. You will help drive the implementation of new business solutions and challenge the status quo. You will also contribute to building new Data Products published in our Data Mesh and work closely with Subject matter experts within the manufacturing, quality and development organizations of PT to deliver fit-for-purpose analytics.
Your Impact
Be part of a cross-functional use case team to address high-pressing business problems and become familiar with our product-related data, manufacturing processes and systems
Undertake appropriate preprocessing of structured and unstructured data with additional support of Data Engineers to build new Data Products (Data Mesh)
Analyze small to medium amounts of static and real-time data to discover trends and patterns, and implement analysis pipelines
Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms to predict & solve manufacturing-related issues of the products
Who You Are
Master\\xe2\\x80\\x99s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience, or PhD with 2 years of working experience with a degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics or a related field.
Technical & Business skills:
Advanced knowledge of programming languages (Python, R) and ability to implement pipelines. In-depth knowledge of various types of machine learning algorithms and ability to design, apply and evaluate multiple/ensemble ML models for a given problem and choosing the best fit design.
Proficiency in using cloud computing to run pipelines and ML models (e.g., GCP/AWS, Apache airflow)
Extensive knowledge of ML frameworks (TensorFlow, Pythorch, Spark ML), data structures, modelling, and software architecture.
Experience working with Dataiku is a plus
In-depth knowledge of applying unsupervised and supervised models and ability to identify linear and nonlinear relationships in data.
Superb analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Able to extract data to design the appropriate analytical models and translate data into insights. Able to create/process/interpret data visualizations. Able to use data and analytics to significantly increase value and reach better outcomes as well as using data analysis to identify opportunities for increased data quality. Ability to analyze Big Data & Business Intelligence.
Applies elements of the FAIR Data Citizenship (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) as a baseline for all decision-making processes.
Knowledge of the Pharma Industry, GMP and CSV regulations.
Interpersonal skills:
Able to demonstrate an enterprise mindset and entrepreneurial behaviors broadly across different work scenarios. Identify user needs and generate viable solutions in a creative process using innovation frameworks and tools (e.g. DesignThinking, Sprints, User Stories/Personas etc).
Able to communicate a compelling story and complex concepts with aspirational language that data professionals, business stakeholders and decision-makers equally understand.
Able to explain the concept of agility, agile ways of working/thinking, key principles, values and purpose, as well as the OneRoche.
