About the role
The Security and Anti-Fraud team (short for SAF) works to create and maintain the safest operating environment protecting hundreds of employees and millions of end-users. We lead, design, execute, and manage security initiatives, projects, products, and features across all marketplaces to improve the security of the infrastructure and our marketplaces, that is to ensure the safety of our employees and end-users. We actively monitor our infrastructure, systems, platforms, and marketplaces for attacks, intrusions, and fraud signals, and mitigate them. SMG values security, and SAF\\xe2\\x80\\x99s mission is to protect the users and their data without sacrificing User Experience or convenience. The SAF team reports directly to the CEO. In this role, you will work with software engineers, product managers, IT, and SRE and platform teams to proactively identify and improve the security of the marketplaces.
You will be responsible for the design and architecture of security initiatives and features across SMG, protecting hundreds of employees and millions of customers on our marketplaces. You will lead teams to identify and mitigate current risks, and implement/deploy security features or components. You will also communicate concepts to stakeholders, internally and externally (e.g., community outreach).
About the position
Initiate and lead projects to ensure the safety of our customers and their data.
Lead strategic initiatives and play an active role in implementing solutions that require cross-functional participation (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Product).
Research trends, develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, and measure the effectiveness of our security controls.
Develop deep industry and technology expertise to stay ahead of adversarial actors, e.g., crawling or scraping our marketplaces. Ideally, with expertise in AI.
Run interest groups (e.g., guilds), organise activities, competitions, speak at conferences, and perform community outreach.
Create and deliver security implementation recommendations, sample code, and technical presentations, adapting to different levels or key technical stakeholders.
Document and present results to a variety of audiences, including highly technical engineers, and non-technical subject matter experts.
Qualifications
About you
We already know you\\xe2\\x80\\x99re talented, but here are some other requirements for the role:
You have completed your university studies in cybersecurity, computer science or a related field.
Technical knowledge in one or more of the following: fraud detection/prevention, cloud security, security operations (e,g., incident management, SIEM, SOAR, or XDR), virtualization, IAM, network security, product security.
Experience in analyzing and identifying security problems, threat modelling, security architecture, security reviews, and assessing security features.
Experience in Web Development, and coding (e.g., Java, Go, NodeJS, or TypeScript), and with databases, and/or querying (e.g., SQL and MySQL).
Experience leading engineers to develop security features, or deploy a security component.
Ability to solve large unstructured business problems, working closely or leading cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering and Product)
Ability to work independently and complete multiple projects in a timely manner.
Ability to quickly adapt and work in a fast-paced and fast-changing team environment.
