We are seeking a Development Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the future of dental implantology.
Position Overview As Product Development Engineer Implants & Prosthetics, you will be part of an inspired and dynamic team; shaping together the future of our advanced and innovative Straumann Dental Implant Systems (SDIS) Portfolio. In this role, you will strengthen the team in place to bring the next generation ceramic implants on the market, develop the implants and prosthetics portfolios, and support continuous improvement of launched products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Operations, to ensure the successful development and enhancement of our product offerings. Your initial focus will be on ceramic implant systems, with the opportunity to be exposed and contribute to biomaterials and instruments portfolios. Tasks
Drive the design and development of next-generation ceramic implants, from concept to commercialization.
Evaluation of technical solutions and performance of feasibility studies.
Evaluation of business opportunities that come along with design modifications.
Translation of user needs and standards into design.
Coordination of verification and validation (V&V) activities.
Coordination of design transfer activities.
Support manufacturing in the ramp up of new and existing products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are executed within established timelines and budget constraints, under consideration of the design control process.
Drive the evaluation and validation of new materials and technologies to improve product performance and durability.
Author technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Lead root cause investigations.
Ensure Design History File (DHF) documentation according to GDP.
Provide expertise as Subject Matter Expert in audits.
Propose and evaluate technical solutions and performance of feasibility studies.
Translation of user needs (market inputs) or standards into design inputs (technical specifications).
Profile Qualifications
Bachelor\\\'s degree in mechanical engineering, microengineering, bioengineering, materials sciences, or a related field of study; MSc is preferred, advanced degree is a plus
Other relevant qualification is a plus (e.g. six-sigma, lean, etc.).
Professional Experience
1-3 years\\xe2\\x80\\x99 experience in a related area such as development of medical device or other highly regulated products.
Experience in dental implant development is a plus.
Knowledge in product development, manufacturing, and testing.
Knowledge in applicable standards and regulations (MDR, FDA, ISO, ASTM).
Knowledge in design control process.
Knowledge of medical device manufacturing processes (e.g. plastic and/or metal injection molding, machining, post processing).
Knowledge with specific development tools (e.g. statistical analysis, FMEA, analysis of mechanical properties, etc.).
Familiar with operating in a matrixed environment.
